About this tour
This 3-day journey covers Mongolia’s most iconic destinations: Elsen Tasarkhai sand dunes, ancient Karakorum city, and peaceful Ugii Lake. The tour combines desert, history, culture, and nature before returning to Ulaanbaatar.
Day by day
Drive from Ulaanbaatar to Elsen Tasarkhai (Mini Gobi). Enjoy scenic steppe landscape along the way. Arrive at Elsen Tasarkhai sand dunes. Camel riding, sand walking, and photography experience. Short nature exploration of desert and grassland mix. Continue driving to Karakorum, the ancient capital of Mongolia. Arrive in Karakorum and check in to ger camp. Dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, visit Erdene Zuu Monastery and Karakorum Museum. Learn about Mongol Empire history and ancient capital city. After lunch, drive to Ugii Lake. Arrive at Ugii Lake, a peaceful freshwater lake famous for birdlife and fishing. Activities include lake walking, photography, birdwatching, and optional boat ride. Dinner at lakeside camp and overnight stay.
