This 4-day journey offers a perfect introduction to Mongolia’s vibrant capital and the dramatic landscapes of the South Gobi Desert. Discover Ulaanbaatar’s cultural landmarks, experience the stunning beauty of Gobi Gurvansaikhan National Park, and explore iconic natural wonders such as Yol Valley, Moltsog Sand Dunes, and the Flaming Cliffs of Bayanzag — world-famous for dinosaur fossil discoveries.
Day by day
Fly from Ulaanbaatar to Dalanzadgad, the capital of South Gobi province. Upon arrival, transfer to local sightseeing. Head to Gobi Gurvansaikhan National Park. Drive to Yol Valley (Vulture’s Gorge), a deep canyon known for ice even in summer. Enjoy light walking and nature exploration. Dinner and overnight stay near Yol Valley. Notes: Flight departs Every Wednesday & Friday.
After breakfast, drive to Moltsog Sand Dunes. Enjoy one of the rare true sand dune areas in the Gobi region. Here you can experience camel riding, walking on the dunes, and photography of the endless desert landscape. Continue to Bayanzag, also known as the Flaming Cliffs. Explore the famous red sandstone formations where important dinosaur fossils were discovered by Roy Chapman Andrews in the 1920s. Enjoy walking around the cliffs and take in the dramatic desert scenery, especially during sunset when the cliffs turn deep red and orange. Dinner and overnight stay near Bayanzag in a ger camp.
After breakfast, transfer to Dalanzadgad Airport for your flight back to Ulaanbaatar. Upon arrival in Ulaanbaatar, transfer to your hotel and check in. Enjoy free time for rest or last-minute shopping in the city. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Mongolian cultural performance featuring throat singing, folk dance, and morin khuur (horsehead fiddle). Finish the journey with a farewell dinner at a local restaurant. Tour ends.
